The Apollo float tank is an Australian sensory deprivation or isolation tank used for floatation therapy. It is designed to provide individuals with a unique and relaxing experience by immersing them in a saltwater-filled tank that allows them to float effortlessly.
Float tanks & pools like the Apollo are typically filled with water and Epsom salt (magnesium sulphate) to create a buoyant environment that allows users to float effortlessly on the surface. The water is typically maintained at body temperature, with the light & sound restricted to minimise sensory input, providing a weightless and tranquil experience.
During a float session, users enter the tank, close the lid (if desired) to reduce external stimuli, and float in the saltwater for a designated period, usually around 60-90 minutes. The aim of floatation therapy is to promote relaxation, reduce stress, relieve muscle tension, and enhance mental clarity.
